One Dead in Hit and Run on Cane Run Road

Per WAVE3, one person died in a hit and run crash that occurred on Cane Run Road in Louisville on the evening of Sunday, October 9. 2022.  Louisville Metro Police Department is still investigating the wreck.  Police responded to the scene of the incident in the 3900 block of Cane Run Road around 8 p.m.  The initial investigation revealed that a car headed northbound on Cane Run Road, for unknown reasons, crossed over into the southbound lanes of traffic and struck head-on another vehicle occupied by three people.  A rear passenger in the vehicle with three occupants suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.  The driver and other passengers in that vehicle were transported to UofL hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.  The driver of the vehicle that crossed into the southbound lanes fled the scene of the incident on foot.

Head-on collision accidents are somewhat rare when compared to other types of accidents, but when head-on collisions occur, they often cause serious injury or death.  The amount of force involved in a head-on collision often leads to death or severe injuries like broken bones, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, traumatic brain injuries, torn shoulder ligaments, torn knee ligaments, internal bleeding, or internal organ damage.  If a victim is lucky to survive such a traffic crash, they often need significant medical treatment and, therefore, may be left with significant medical bills, lost wages due to not being able to work, and pain and suffering.
