If you or a loved one have been injured by a hit-and-run driver, you may be entitled to compensation under your own uninsured motorist coverage. Additionally, per Kentucky law (KRS 304-20-045) your automobile insurer is prohibited from raising your insurance rate due to filing an uninsured motorist claim if you are not at fault for the accident. In order to make an uninsured motorist claim for your injuries, you must prove that the crash was caused by another driver. You also must prove that the driver’s vehicle that fled the scene of the wreck made contact with your car and/or that there were witnesses of the accident.
