According to WAVE3, a man was hospitalized after being severely injured in a motor accident on Dixie Highway on the morning of July 22, 2022. According to Louisville Metro Police, they responded to the crash involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle before 6 a.m. on Dixie Highway near Hill Street. In Kentucky, one is not required to wear a helmet while opera or ride a motorcycle unless they are under 21 years of age. Those operating a motorcycle with a motorcycle instruction permit or who have held their motorcycle operator’s license for less than one year are also required to wear a helmet in Kentucky. However, all motorcycle drivers, regardless of age, are required to wear eye protection in Kentucky while operating a motorcycle.

A motorcycle accident is often more serious than an automobile accident due to the lack of protection afforded a motorcycle rider.
