So, how do you protect yourself and your family when in a wreck with an uninsured driver? The best way is to purchase uninsured motorist coverage on your automobile insurance policy. That way, if an uninsured driver causes a wreck involving you or your loved one, you can seek compensation under the uninsured motorist coverage of your automobile insurance policy. Also, in Kentucky, automobile insurance companies are prohibited by law from raising your insurance rates due to filing a claim when the person is not at fault for the accident. If your automobile insurance company raises your rate due to filing a claim in an accident that was not your fault, you can file a complaint with the insurance commissioner, and it’s possible the insurer may be fined for its actions.
